Amari Evans, four-star guard, commits to Tennessee basketball over Pitt, Xavier

Amari Evans committed to Tennessee basketball on Friday.

The four-star guard is the second commitment in the 2025 class and is regarded as the No. 74 prospect in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Evans is a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Pittsburgh who currently plays in the Overtime Elite prep league. He chose the Vols over Pitt and Xavier. He took an official visits to all three. Evans played AAU basketball with New Heights Lightning, the same program that produced Vols guard Zakai Zeigler.

Amari Evans joins DeWayne Brown as Tennessee basketball commits

DeWayne Brown became the first commit in the 2025 class when he picked UT on April 20. The 6-9, 250-pound forward is the No. 82 prospect in the nation and, like Evans, is a four-star recruit.

Brown picked the Vols over Mississippi State, while holding offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, Providence and others.

Who is Tennessee basketball recruiting in 2025 class?

Tennessee has hosted three of the top eight recruits in the nation on official visits this fall and is working to set one up with No. 12 prospect Brayden Burries.

The Vols hosted forward Nate Ament, the No. 4 recruit, on Oct. 19. The 6-9, 185-pound forward plays at Highland School in Warrenton, Virginia.

Caleb Wilson, the No. 5 prospect, visited on Oct. 12. The 6-9, 205-pound forward is from Atlanta. Isaiah Denis, the No. 62 recruit, also visited on Oct. 12. Denis is a 6-5, 175-pound guard from Davidson, North Carolina. He is announcing his commitment Saturday.

UT hosted Chris Cenac on Sept. 14. Cenac is the No. 8 recruit. He is a 6-10, 230-pound forward who plays at Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, which produced current Vols Cameron Carr and Cade Phillips and former Vol Julian Phillips. Cenac is from New Orleans.

Burries is a 6-4, 200-pound guard from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in San Bernardino, California.
