Andy Murray joins football and cricket royalty at exclusive golf course

Date:

Andy Murray has been spotted swinging his clubs on the golf course, rubbing shoulders with sports legends from football and cricket following his retirement from tennis.

After bidding farewell to his illustrious tennis career post-Olympics in Paris, the Dunblane icon took to the greens at the Celebrity Pro-Am tournament at Wentworth, where he partnered with fellow Scot Bob MacIntyre just last week.

Pietersen, hailed as one of England’s all-time great batsmen, took to Instagram to share moments from their game. He boasted: “59 WATCH today! Some SERIOUS golf played by all at Queenwood. I’ve never played in a fourball that’s shot a combine 59! Helluva game but it was a combination of tennis and cricket that WALLOPED football and swimming!”

Last week, Murray confessed to battling nerves during his stint at the BMW PGA Celebrity Pro-Am. Teaming up with Ryder Cup celebrity MacIntyre, cricketer Jimmy Anderson, and Anton Du Beke his mother Judy’s former dance partner on Strictly Come Dancing the three-time Grand Slam winner and seven-handicap golfer eventually found his stride on the West Course.

He expressed: “I couldn’t really feel my arms and legs. It was good. A brilliant experience for me. To be out there with one of the best in the world for me, it was brilliant. I was pretty nervous. I couldn’t really feel my arms and legs. I didn’t really hit any balls on the range beforehand. Yeah, I was feeling it. But it got better. It got better as the round went on. It’s a different sort of nerves from Wimbledon because you are comfortable in the tennis environment.”
