The newest college basketball rankings are here as the 2024-25 AP Poll Top 25 was updated after Week 9 of the season.
We’re fully into January at this point so it’s time to see some contenders and pretenders. Conference play is upon us!
With that, let’s dive into the AP Poll Top 25 rankings following the conclusion of month number two.
Tennessee kept it rolling with a previously ranked win over Arkansas, 76-52. A dominating display for the Vols? Nothing new.
Chaz Lanier put up 29 points and two rebounds. Igor Milicic had a phenomenal game as well, putting up 13 points, 18 rebounds and five assists.
The Tigers ran by SEC foe Missouri, who’s quietly put up a good season with 11 wins to this point. Now that Auburn is 13-1, it’s hard to say this isn’t one of the best teams in the country.
Johni Broome put up 24 points, seven rebounds and two assists in the win. Chaney Johnson added 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Iowa State knocked off a ranked Baylor squad on Saturday. With a 77-54 win, the Cyclones looked dominant again.
In a balanced effort, Keshon Gilbert put up 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Milan Momcilovic put up 15 points, four rebounds and one assist.
Duke took it to SMU in ACC play, 89-62, on the road. The Blue Devils are now 12-2 on the season following another win.
Cooper Flagg led the way with 24 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Tyrese Proctor added 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Perhaps the Alabama basketball team got some revenge for football by beating Oklahoma by 28 points on Saturday. The 107-79 beatdown was evident in the first half.
Mark Sears had 22 points, four rebounds and 10 assists. Labaron Philon had 16 points and Grant Nelson had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The marquee event Saturday happened at 11 AM ET time! Kentucky handed Florida its first loss of the season with a 106-100 win.
The Wildcats raced out to a 10 point lead at halftime and held off the Gators’ comeback. Koby Brea had 21 points while Lamont Butler had 19 points, two rebounds and eight assists.
Marquette won its fourth straight game with a 79-71 win over Creighton on Friday night. The Golden Eagles are now 14-2 on the season.
Kameron Jones put up 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Stevie Mitchell added 18 points, six rebounds and two assists.
The Florida Gators were mentioned before and while they got off to a tremendous 13-0 start, the perfect season came to an end. Florida fell 106-100 to Kentucky on the road.
Walter Clayton Jr. put up 33 points, three rebounds and five assists. Alijah Martin added 26 points, five rebounds and one assist.
Dan Hurley is certainly pushing the right buttons lately. UConn is now 13-3 on the season after an 87-84 victory over Providence.
It was a close call, but the Huskies pulled off the comeback following a 12 point deficit at halftime. Hassan Diarra led the way with 19 points, two rebounds and eight assists.
Texas A&M took it to Texas on Saturday, winning 80-60 at home. That was after the game was tied 37 a piece at halftime.
Zuric Phelps had 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Pharrel Payne added 15 points and five rebounds in the win.
