There’s an ‘exceptional’ midfielder at Liverpool who could become Arne Slot’s ‘Thiago.’
Life under Liverpool’s new head coach has been nothing but a breeze for the Reds so far. Slot has slotted in seamlessly.
He’s immediately been able to implement his ideas on the pitch and, most importantly, get the best out of the club’s players.
Slot’s work has been particularly focused on the Reds’ midfielders. Both Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai struggled in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield at times last season.
But under Slot, it’s as if they’ve been given a new lease of life and have flourished in the Dutchman’s system.
And the best could be yet to come. Slot could be about to utilise another really talented midfielder in the next few weeks ahead.

Why Tyler Morton can become Arne Slot’s Thiago at Liverpool
The England U21 international is yet to feature prominently under Slot this season. However, Morton showcased on international duty just why he can still be a huge asset to this Liverpool team.
Lining up for England’s U21 side against Austria, Morton produced a stellar performance and really caught the eye with his silky touches.
The poise and the elegance he showed on the ball were reminiscent of Thiago Alcantara in his heyday and he is someone Morton will have learned a lot from while training with the club’s first team.
His footballing brain is something Jurgen Klopp has praised in the past as well, highlighting exactly that after Morton produced a stellar performance at the San Siro against AC Milan in the Champions League.
“It was a big pleasure to watch the boy playing,” Klopp said in his post-match press conference at the time.
“The football knowledge, the football brain he showed tonight, was absolutely exceptional.
“If you are technically on that level – and he obviously is – and you then have such good orientation, then sometimes we have enough time to do good stuff.”
Morton was kept at the club despite a lot of interest in the summer window because there will be a time when Slot will need him.
He didn’t get a lot of minutes in pre-season, but did well when called upon. Impressively, he misplaced just three passes during the summer campaign, completing 53/56 attempted passes as per Wyscout.
With games coming up thick and fast for Liverpool, Morton’s chance is imminent.
