Arsenal, Man Utd Passed on Landing Three-Time Champions League Winner from PSG on Deadline Day

Date:

Last Friday, the final day of the summer transfer window, saw many deals. However, there are reports of transfers that didn’t get done, whether due to time running out, parties not being able to agree on terms, or simply not being interested.

This summer, Paris Saint-Germain showed they’re not afraid to move on from a player who has only spent one season. Manuel Ugarte left for Manchester United, and the capital club was open to selling Milan Skriniar, but a move didn’t happen.

Another player that could’ve been had in the final hours of the transfer window was Marco Asensio. Nonetheless, two Premier League clubs balked at the chance of securing the three-time UEFA Champions League winner.

Give Me Sport reported on Monday, citing sources, that Manchester United and Arsenal both passed on the chance to sign Asensio in the final moments before Friday’s 11 pm deadline.

As a result, he’s still with PSG, even though his current team is willing to let him leave the Parc des Princes. Nonetheless, keeping the player might be a happy accident as Asensio has scored one goal and registered an assist in three matches.

If the Spanish player can provide depth scoring, then PSG might be relieved that they didn’t sell him.
