CaughtOffside recently reported, citing sources, that Arsenal defender William Saliba is on the radar of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich. However, could another defender from the Premier League side be on their radar?
Even though it’s unlikely the Gunners would let Saliba leave, with his contract running until 2027, the report states that they’d only entertain offers starting at around €120 million or higher.
Under manager Luis Enrique, PSG are likely laying the groundwork to strengthen its defense. While they’ve added Willian Pacho, this could be just one step toward improving their center-back unit.
With Marquinhos now in his 30s, Lucas Hernandez recovering from a severe injury, and Milan Skriniar not seen as a long-term option, players like Lucas Beraldo and Pacho represent the youth in the squad.
However, that dynamic might shift next summer, as PSG could target another defender to become a crucial part of their plans.
According to TBR Football (h/t Foot01), the reigning French champions are fond of Arsenal’s central defensive pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. The source reports that PSG had a representative in the stands during the North London Derby, which the Gunners won at Tottenham’s ground on Sunday.
Moreover, the outlet notes that Arsenal have swiftly initiated talks to extend the contract of the former Lille player. There’s no urgency, as the Brazilian international still has three years left on his deal, but the Gunners are eager to end the rumors and ward off PSG as quickly as possible.
It looks like the French side want one of these two players to be a pillar of their defense. Furthermore, these two players would have experience in Ligue 1 as Saliba played at Saint-Étienne and Olympique de Marseille while Magalhães suited up for LOSC Lille.
