Aston Villa Secures Contract Extension for Bayern Munich, PSG Summer-Linked Player Until 2030

A few days ago, it was reported that Paris Saint-Germain had an interest in Aston Villa standout Jhon Durán. The Colombian has been the subject of rumors dating back to this past summer. However, Villa stood their ground.

According to Eduardo Burgos from Diario AS, Durán received offers from Bayern Munich and PSG last summer. The Colombian forward was on the verge of leaving, with a transfer to Germany being one of his top choices.

However, Aston Villa stepped in and blocked the move, as Unai Emery sees him as a potential future superstar. Emery’s decision to keep the 20-year-old has paid off, as he’s scored six goals in 10 matches for the Premier League side.

With all the rumors and clubs keen, the Premier League side announced on Monday that they have reached a contract extension with Durán, whose deal now runs through until 2030. As a result, it gives Villa more leverage if any club wants to inquire about the player.

“Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Jhon Durán has signed a new contract with the club until 2030,” the club announced in a press release.

“The 20-year-old has been in sparkling form at the start of this season, scoring six times, including the only goal on Wednesday night which sealed a famous win over German giants, Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He has also contributed match-winning goals against West Ham, Leicester and Everton, the latter of which was a spectacular long-range strike.”
