Bad to worse for Man Utd as captain gets first club red card 🟥

Manchester United’s match against Tottenham went from bad to worse just before half-time on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s side found themselves behind at Old Trafford within less than three minutes after Micky van de Ven ran 70 yards before teeing up Brennan Johnson to take the lead.

United had the woodwork and some instinctual movement from Andre Onana to thank for not conceding another, but things then turned much worse.

Captain Bruno Fernandes was shown a direct red card after a high, studs-up challenge on James Maddison.

The Portugal international has received considerable scrutiny following his poor performances this season.

Fernandes has registered zero goals or assists in nine appearances so far and has now earned his first red card after 242 appearances at the club.

As if that wasn’t enough, Kobbie Mainoo was the player who was sacrificed.
