Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) director of cricket Khaled Mahmud has resigned from his post amid the political crisis in the country ahead of a two-Test match tour against India.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) director of cricket Khaled Mahmud has resigned from his post amid the political crisis in the country ahead of a two-Test match tour against India. Mahmud, who defeated Gazi Ashraf Hossain in the 2013 election, served as a BCB director for three terms. However, he was forced to resign before completing his most recent term due to political changes in the country, which influenced the board’s affairs following the resignation of former president Nazmul Hassan.
Mahmud served as the chairman of BCB’s game development committee for many years. During his tenure, the Bangladesh Under-19 team achieved a significant milestone by winning the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2020.
Apart from that he also served as interim head coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team as well as team manager on different occasions. Apart from Mahmud and Nazmul several other board directors also decided to step down from the post including Jalal Yunus, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury and Naimur Rahman among others.

Bangladesh Cricket Team’s upcoming assignment
Bangladesh have recently defeated Pakistan in the two-Test match series for the first time in the history of the longest format of the game. Now Bangladesh will travel to India for two-Test match series which is scheduled to start from September 19. The first Test match between India and Bangladesh will take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and after that, they will face India for the second Test match at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27. BCCI have already announced India’s squad for the first Test match where speedster Jasprit Bumrah made his international comeback after T20 World Cup 2024 final.
