Barcelona were dealt a major blow as they failed to meet the deadline for the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, the two summer signings.
There is particular tension growing at the club surrounding the situation, especially Olmo’s as the Spaniard can now become a free agent.
Following the failed registrations of the duo, Barcelona could be staring down a loss of around €263 million.
Barcelona confident of resolving registration issues
A recent report from Diario SPORT, though, has suggested that there is still conviction in the Barcelona camp that they resolve the situation.
In fact, club president Joan Laporta and the board expect a resolution by Friday, January 3, as it appears the club is awaiting a ‘miracle’.
That miracle hinges on the confirmation of payments tied to the sale of VIP seats at the future Spotify Camp Nou.
The club assert that the financial project was submitted within the required timeframe and meets the economic criteria. However, administrative hurdles beyond the control of the club have delayed the process.
Barcelona remains optimistic that these issues will be resolved by Friday, allowing La Liga and the RFEF to revisit their stance and approve the first-team registrations of both players.
In the meantime, Olmo and Victor have continued to train with the squad, fully engaged in the team’s first session of 2025.
The duo has received overwhelming support from their teammates, who hope to see them fully reinstated in time for upcoming fixtures.
There is some tension in the Olmo camp, but the player remains committed to continuing at Barcelona, despite the looming option of becoming a free agent.
