Termination clause is not static
The talented youth player renewed his contract with an initial release clause set at €20 million. However, this figure will not remain static. As Bernal continued to make appearances for the first team, his release clause began to rise.
After his first five matches, the clause is set to jump by €5 million, bringing the total to €25 million.
As he reaches ten matches, it will increase by another €5 million, bringing it to €30 million, with a similar increment set to occur after his next five matches, which would raise the clause to €35 million.
Unfortunately, Bernal is currently sidelined due to injury, delaying any further increase in his release clause. Nevertheless, there is little doubt that the club will continue to prioritise his development and protection.
His impressive performances thus far have caught the attention of many, and Barcelona are keen to ensure that his future remains with them.
Once he is back from injury, the expectation is that the club will not only renew his contract but also promote him to the first team on a permanent basis, with a release clause reflecting his rising status within the squad.
