Barcelona continue to play down the rumors linking them to one of Brazil’s most promising talents

Across the entire footballing world, FC Barcelona remains a constant threat in terms of scouting. For the Catalan giants, the chance to secure the services of some of football’s finest talents is always a great opportunity. However, not every player being linked to Barcelona ends up signing for them.

At the moment, the Catalan already has a great variety of young talents that are dominating the first team. Players such as the €150 million-rated Lamine Yamal, the defensive virtuoso in Pau Cubarsi, the midfield maestro in Pedri, and several others are seen as pillars of this new-look Barcelona team.

However, enough seems to never be enough in the world of football. While Vitor Roque’s arrival from Brazil may not have been the most impactful signing possible, it would appear that Barcelona are now being linked to another Brazilian talent from Palmeiras this time, but the club seems to play down that information.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are currently playing down the rumors that are linking them to the possibility of signing Vitor Reis, one of Brazil’s most talented prospects and a player who has been named the best Under-21 South American central defender.

However, with a contract until 2028 and a release clause worth €100 million, signing him would be close to impossible for Barcelona right now. Furthermore, it is being reported that his current club does not even wish to consider selling him, and definitely not before the 2025 Club World Cup.

Apart from Barcelona, however, there are other clubs reportedly interested in signing the player as well. Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are also speculated to be interested in the services of the young Brazilian centre-back as well.

Belonging to the same generation that also produced the likes of Endrick and Estevao Willian, he is seen as one of the brightest lights of Brazilian football. For Barcelona, beyond just the financial limitations, signing him right now would not even make much sporting sense as well given the kind of defensive talent they already possess.
