Barcelona midfield starlet could be set for January exit on loan

The summer transfer window saw the departure of many Barcelona talents, as they left the club on loan for better prospects elsewhere.

To that end, Pablo Torre’s decision to stay at the club was a surprise to many. The young midfielder, despite immense competition, decided to stay and fight for his place in the team.

In the early parts of the season, Torre’s decision to stay didn’t seem like a bad one either, as the youngster made his impact felt in multiple matches.

Torre notably racked up three goals and one assist, emerging as a trusted option for Hansi Flick, especially at a time when many Barcelona midfielders were out injured.

Torre’s recent disappearance

However, Torre’s presence in the team has dwindled considerably in recent times.

Since October, the former Racing prodigy has only played 72 minutes of football, falling behind other midfielders in the pecking order.

This period has coincided with the return of many Barcelona midfielders including Gavi and Frenkie de Jong as well as Dani Olmo. Torre, therefore, has struggled with game time.

January move on the cards?

In light of his recent struggles, question marks are growing over his long-term future at Barcelona.

According to Diario SPORT, Torre could even end up leaving Barcelona in the upcoming January transfer window.

Although Torre may not leave Barcelona on a permanent deal, a loan deal could be considered as the club look to ensure that the midfielder gets regular game-time at the highest level.

There should be no shortage of suitors either, as clubs such as Real Sociedad have been linked with a move for the Spaniard in the past.

It will, therefore, be interesting to see what the future has in store for Torre in the upcoming January transfer window.
