Barcelona midfielder reveals the driving force behind his strong performances

Marc Casado has been a revelation for FC Barcelona this season, stepping into the midfield and establishing himself as a permanent starter.

The 21-year-old La Masia graduate has been in fine form since pre-season and is growing in stature with each passing game, playing an integral role in the strong start that Hansi Flick’s side have made.

Last night was another game where Casado put forth a solid showing in the centre of the park as Barça ran out 3-0 winners away at the Mendizorroza Stadium.

Speaking to the media last night, the midfield prodigy revealed that the faith shown by manager Flick is a key factor behind him giving his everything on the pitch.

“Now the team is helping me to feel comfortable. The coach gives me confidence and that helps me to give my 100%,” said Casado, as quoted by MARCA.

Regarding the performance and the win against Alaves night, the Barcelona academy graduate remarked:

“The team was clear from the start that today was important, that we had to get the three points, knowing that it was a complicated pitch. We came out with the aim of getting the game on track and that’s how it went.”

Casado also remarked that the clarity of the roles helps the team perform well, saying:

“The team is very clear about things and that helps us to know what we have to do on the pitch.”

Regarding the team’s fast start on Sunday and the fact that they had the game wrapped up just around the half-hour mark thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick, Casado said:

“The team comes out plugged in every game, it’s something we’ve worked very hard on. We know that every game is a war and that we have to go out there at 100%.”

Discussing the high-line that Barcelona play with and how it has helped them trap opponents offside, he added:

“We have to be very synchronised. We work on it a lot in training and so far it’s working well for us.”
