Barcelona’s request to RFEF for new licenses for Olmo and Victor unlikely to be accepted

According to MARCA, Barcelona’s request to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for new registrations for both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor is unlikely to succeed.

Following their failure to register the pair in time on December 31, Barça have seen La Liga remove the names of both players from the official squad list.

Even as La Liga continue to comb through the documents from the Catalans’ sale of the VIP box packages at Spotify Camp Nou, they applied for new licenses for Olmo and Victor with RFEF, as confirmed by the club’s official statement last night.

“FC Barcelona informs that it has requested a new license from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for players Daniel Olmo and Pau Victor,” the statement read.

However, the request is unlikely to be approved as per the aforementioned report.

The request lacks any basis, as it is rooted in past and outdated circumstances that bear little relevance to the current regulatory framework.

The Catalan club is facing a desperate situation as it searches for a solution to the predicament that has placed it under the scrutiny of global football.

On one hand, there is the changed dynamic and relationship between the RFEF and La Liga, and on the other, the matter of what the regulations actually stipulate.

Article 141, point 5 of the General Regulations of the Spanish Football Federation states: “Players whose licences are cancelled cannot, within the same season, obtain a licence for the same team they were previously linked to.”

Meanwhile, various teams have approached the representatives of a player who is eager to join Barcelona, but who is currently unable to do so. Although the club insists that the situation will be resolved before the end of the week, it remains a complex issue.
