Tom Izzo returned home with his Spartans on Sunday.
Michigan State opened the 2024-25 season with an exhibition win over Northern Michigan, 70-53, on Sunday afternoon. The game was played at the Superior Dome in Marquette, Mich., with this matchup serving as a return trip to Izzo’s alma mater.
Michigan State led the entire way, with the Spartans only holding a narrow 12-point margin at halftime. However, Michigan State turned it up in the second half to build a comfortable lead they carried into the final stretch.
Michigan State was led in scoring by Jace Richardson, who dropped 11 points. Xavier Booker was also in double figures for points, with 10 points in the win.
