The conference announced this week it has reached a multiyear agreement with the network to broadcast an additional 20 men’s basketball games per season. The network currently broadcasts a minimum of six Big 12 men’s college basketball games annually on CBS, streaming live on Paramount+.
“Growing our presence on CBS Sports will deliver Big 12 basketball to even more fans across the country,” Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark said in a statement. “The additional nationally televised games will continue to grow our brand as the best conference in college basketball and showcase the elite student-athletes and programs from our 16 institutions.”
“The Big 12 is one of the nation’s signature basketball conferences with marquee schools, student-athletes and coaches along with a rich history in the sport,” said Dan Weinberg, Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Sports.
A Big 12-record eight teams made the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Regular season champion Houston, playing in its first year in the conference, earned a No. 1 seed. The conference was stout top to bottom, posting the nation’s best NET average (46.2) and strength of schedule (39.6) last season.
The multi-year deal runs through the 2026-27 season, and is through a sublicense agreement with ESPN.
CBS and Paramount+ currently broadcast around 300 regular-season games. Of course, it’s been the longtime home of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
