Argentina’s Santa Fe province launched three tenders involving 19.9bn pesos (US$18.9mn) as part of a US$165mn plan to expand and build sports infrastructure in preparation for the 2026 Odesur games, organized by the South American Sports Organization.
The first contracts are for a 3,582m2, 3.91bn-peso shooting venue in Recreo municipality, a 7,566m2, 7.71bn-peso multipurpose stadium in Rafaela city and a 7,965m2, 8.29bn-peso stadium in capital Santa Fe.
Bids will be opened on March 10, March 11 and March 13, respectively. Related documents can be accessed here, in Spanish.
Provincial authorities and the private sector are aiming to have all Odesur infrastructure projects finished by July 2026, as the games will kick off in September, the head of the province’s economic cooperation and external financing agency, Gonzalo Saglione, said during a meeting with construction chamber Camarco.
The plan includes the following projects:
Rosario:
- Olympics aquatic center;
- Independencia Park stadium;
- Paseo XXI court;
- Entertainment center at Gimnasia y Esgrima Club;
- Multipurpose arena on the property the Rural Society’s former headquarters;
- Independencia Park renovations.
Santa Fe city:
- integral renovation of high performance sports center;
- multipurpose stadium;
- Recreo shooting venue.
Rafaela:
- Multipurpose stadium;
- Skate and BMX venues and a velodrome at the metropolitan park.
Latin American development bank CAF will provide US$75mn in financing and the province US$90mn, according to a Camarco press release.
