Braylon Mullins cuts Kentucky Basketball from list

Date:

As the fall signing period draws closer, Braylon Mullins has taken the next step in his recruitment.

On Tuesday, Mullins released his final three, and the Kentucky Wildcats did not make the cut.

Mullins’ finalists are the UConn Huskies, Indiana Hoosiers, and North Carolina Tar Heels, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

Thus ends the Wildcats’ pursuit of Mullins, who is currently ranked 35th nationally by On3. He was set to officially visit Lexington in October. There was a time when Kentucky was seen as one of the favorites for the Indiana native. However, that tune changed when the Wildcats landed a commitment from fellow 2025 guard Jasper Johnson.

In addition, Kentucky has been gaining a lot of traction in the recruitment of Acaden Lewis, so this may be a situation where the Cats are going all-in with Lewis and dropping out of the race for Mullins.

That’s not to say Kentucky didn’t want Mullins, because they absolutely did. He’s easily among the best shooters in the class of 2025 and would have been a great fit for Mark Pope’s offense.

With Mullins now off the board for Kentucky, it’s imperative that they either land Lewis or find another guard to pair with Johnson in the 2025 class.
