Bryson DeChambeau needles Rory McIlroy with U.S. Open comment

Date:

Bryson DeChambeau 2, Rory McIlroy 0.

Ahead of The Crypto.com Showdown, which features LIV Golf’s DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka taking on the PGA Tour’s McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, players were mic’d up on the range Monday at Shadow Creek outside Las Vegas.

The format in the made-for-TV event includes six holes of singles, about which McIlroy stated, “I’d like to go up against Bryson and try to get him back for what he did to me at the U.S. Open.”

To which DeChambeau quipped, “To be fair, you kind of did it to yourself.”

DeChambeau won this year at Pinehurst No. 2 after McIlroy bogeyed three of his final four holes, including a couple of short misses.

After letting the sting soak in for a few seconds, McIlroy said, “I don’t really know where to go from there.”
