Cal Women’s Basketball : Cal Women’s Hoops Hot on the Recruiting Trail, Celebrate Clarendon Retirement

Date:

The Bears received an official visit from their first 2025 commit last weekend with Kansas PG Grace McCallop making the trip west to Berkeley.

The 5’10 PG averaged 10.1 points, 5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3 steals a game for Bishop Miege in Shawnee Mission, Kansas as a junior.

The Bears are also pursuing Etiwanda point guard Aliyahna Morris. The 5 star senior is the 24th rated player in the nation by ESPN Hoopgurlz.

The Bears are also in the hunt with 44th nationally ranked forward Ciara Byars. The 6’2 George Rogers Clark (Winchester, KY) big would be a huge pickup for the Bears.

5’10 Detroit Edison Academy SG Isis Johnson-Musah has Cal in her Top 5 along with Pitt, BC, Memphis and Mississippi State.

6’3 Garfield-Seattle forward Sarah Lessig is also high on the Bears’ radar. The Seattle senior is a bit of a sports prodigy, also excelling at softball and ice skating.

The Bears are also in the mix with 4 star 6’0 South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, TX) guard Taylor Barnes, 4 star 5’9 Eden Prairie, MN guard Addi Mack, 5’10 4 star Bradley Central (Cleveland, TN) guard Harmonie Ware and international players Caterina Piatti (Italy) and Erica Finney (Australia)

Wrapping things up, Cal legend Layshia Clarendon announced her retirement yesterday after a 12-year WNBA career. In May, Clarendon became the second-oldest player to record a triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against the Atlanta Dream.
