One of the few bright spots in a dismal Bears season was snuffed out on Thursday night.
Quarterback Caleb Williams threw an interception in their 6-3 loss to the Seahawks to end his rookie record of 353 straight pass attempts without being picked off. Avoiding interceptions was just about the only thing that the Bears offense has done well this season and the rest of Thursday night was more of the same.
Williams was sacked seven times to move his season total to 67 sacks taken and he went 16-of-28 for 122 yards while leading the Bears to seven punts over the course of the evening. Williams said he “didn’t help put the team in a good position to win” and the Bears have now lost 10 straight games after a 4-2 start, so it would seem difficult to find a positive spin to put on things. Williams did his best to do so after the game, however.
“Frustrating, annoyed, but learning, I would say,” Williams said, via a transcript from the Seahawks. “I definitely think that this is going to be good for me. Excited about this last game and then excited about the future.”
The Bears will throw themselves into a head coaching search as soon as Week 18 is out of the way and that prospect is all that anyone interested in the Bears can hang their hat on after a brutal 2024 in Chicago.
