Brownson has broken barriers throughout her coaching career. In 2018, Brownson became the first woman to coach full-time in Division I college football after she accepted a position as an offensive quality control coach for Dartmouth College under head coach Buddy Teevens.
She first started in the NFL in 2017 when she served as s college/professional personnel scouting intern for the Jets. Then in 2019, she interned with the Bills before accepting a full-time position on Sean McDermott’s staff.
She also made an impact on the game of football in her playing career. Brownson played eight seasons as a safety, running back and slot receiver for the D.C. Divas of the Women’s Football Alliance from 2010-17, serving as a five-time captain and named a four-time All-American. The Divas won two championships during Brownson’s career.
Brownson is also a two-time goal medalist as a player with Team USA Women’s Football, first at the International Federation of American Football’s (IFAF) Women’s World Championships in Vantaa, Finland in 2013 and Vancouver, Canada in 2017 as a member of the Women’s U.S. Tackle National Team. She served as the head coach of the 2022 Women’s U.S. Tackle National Team that won the program’s fourth consecutive world championship.
