The sister of former Australian cricketer Carl Rackemann was allegedly murdered by her son at a Brisbane home, Queensland Police have revealed.
Carl Rackemann is a former fast bowler who played 12 tests for Australia in a 17-year career that began in 1979 and went on to coach the Zimbabwe national team.
His sister Suzy, 61, suffered critical head injuries during an alleged attack at the home in Upper Kedron, around 5.45am on August 17.
Ms Rackemann died in hospital nine days later.
Her son Conor Robert Rackemann, 29, was initially charged with one count of grievous bodily harm domestic violence offence.
But police have now revealed the charge has been upgraded to one count of murder domestic violence offence.
‘Following extensive investigations by Ferny Grove’s Criminal Investigation Branch, including their newly established DFV team, his charge was upgraded to one count of murder domestic violence offence,’ said a police spokesman.
Ms Rackemann was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition after the alleged attack but died from her injuries on August 26.

Queensland Cricketing Association sent its condolences to the Rackemann family in the wake of the tragedy.
‘The Bulls Masters send our deepest condolences to the Rackemann family who are grieving a big loss,’ the association posted on social media.
‘Carl’s sister, Suzy passed away last week and it is a loss felt by all who knew her.
‘The whole Bulls Masters community stands with our brother Carl in his tough times.’
Ms Rackemann was farewelled at a funeral service on September 12, followed by a reception at the Queensland Cricketers’ Club.
Her son’s case was briefly mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday, when it was adjourned to November 4.
Rackemann did not appear in court and he was remanded in custody.
