Central’s Eller, MJ’s Gettler qualify for state

GALLATIN — Wilson Central junior Meredith Eller and Mt. Juliet’s Cooper Gettler booked trips to the TSSAA Class AA Golf Championships on Monday by winning the Region 5-AA individual championships Monday at Long Hollow Golf Course.

Eller’s 73 tied Beech’s Reese Rexroat and Murfreesboro Central Magnet’s Emery Mitchell. Central Magnet won the girls’ team championship while Eller, who qualified for state as a freshman before falling short by one stroke last year, took the tiebreaker as the second individual.

Gettler won the boys’ individual low medalist honor with a 67.

Other Wilson County scores in the region were Wilson Central’s Eli Kibbe’s 74, Lebanon’s Jacob Steves’ 75 and Mt. Juliet’s Luke Winzenread’s 76.

On the girls’ side, Wilson Central’s Chloe Lowe shot a 100 and Ava Graham a 115. Playing as individuals, Lebanon’s Kristen Wynns notched a 95, teammate Aubrey Ritchason a 105, Green Hill’s Isabella Pino 106 and LHS’ Harper Dailey 118.

The Class AA state tournament will be held Oct. 10-11 at Sevierville Golf Club River Course.
