Charley Hull: Donald Trump is better than Keir Starmer – I wish he was Prime Minister

Date:

Charley Hull says she wishes Donald Trump was Prime Minister as she believes the American president-elect is better than Sir Keir Starmer.

The Kettering-born golfer became the latest athlete to throw her support behind Trump after she was captured on social media mimicking his dance during her final round of The Annika at Pelican Golf Club, Florida.

“I love Trump. I think he’s brilliant,” Hull said on Thursday after shooting a 73 in the first round of the CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburon.

“I like how he just says things, he doesn’t care what people think and he’s straight to the point.”

“I wish he was head of the UK,” she added. “I just like him as a person. He’s a little better than our Prime Minister.”

Hull, who is ranked 11th in the world, is the latest golfer to support Trump with two-time US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau hosting the 78-year-old on his YouTube Channel before joining him on stage during his victory speech after he defeated Kamala Harris earlier this month.

Rory McIlroy suggested Trump’s return to the White House could bring peace between the PGA Tour and LIV with the “smartest man in the world” Elon Musk on his side. American Ryder Cup player Sam Burns, meanwhile, posted a picture of himself on social media while hunting wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ cap with the caption: “Deer hunting is great again.”

Trump is an avid golfer and fan of the sport having played rounds with Tiger Woods and McIlroy in the past and owns a host of courses all over the world, including Scotland’s Turnberry which is ranked as the third best golf course in Great Britain and Ireland behind Royal County Downs and St Andrews’ Old Course.

When asked whether she would like to play a round with Trump, Hull replied: “That would be cool. I think he’s a legend.”

In the past week UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, USA international Christian Pulisic and NFL players Za’Darius Smith, Brock Bowers and Calvin Ridley have all mimicked the shuffle Trump does at rallies during their celebrations.
