Chelsea Ace’s Honest Take on What’s Fueling PSG Star’s Quick Success as Mbappé’s Successor

Date:

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has scored in three straight games, recording four goals in total. The 21-year-old is replacing the goal-scoring production that Kylian Mbappé left behind.

Barcola scored one goal on Matchday 1, a brace on Matchday 2, and a goal on Matchday 3. Moreover, the player’s production isn’t going unnoticed as he was recently called up for the French national team, but also his peers have seen his growth this 2024-25.

In an interview with Téléfoot, Chelsea youngster and fellow French player Malo Gusto praised Barcola for the work he’s put in behind the scenes to be experiencing this early success.

“What’s happening to him today isn’t just a coincidence,” Gusto told the French media outlet (h/t Le10Sport). “We know him well and can see that he works with a clear sense of purpose. He’s earned what’s coming his way.”

Many will ask as this campaign continues whether Barcola can sustain this over an entire season. Barcola is young, so there will be peaks and valleys, but if he can limit the rough patches, then PSG could have a new superstar on their hands after losing one this past summer.
