Chesnee girls golf earns fourth straight state title; T.L. Hanna, Mountain View win first

Chesnee won its fourth consecutive Class AA high school girls golf state championship Tuesday with a dominant performance at the Chester Country Club.

The Eagles beat runner-up Atlantic Christian Academy by 66 strokes. Chesnee had a 53-shot lead after the first of two rounds.

Chesnee senior Olivia Roberts won medalist honors by four strokes with a 10-under-par 134. Senior Olivia Shields was third with a 148 and senior Addison Parker was fifth with a 150. Juniors Jada Flynn with a 160 and Abigail Watson with a 161 finished seventh and eighth, respectively.

In Class AAAAA Division II, T.L. Hanna claimed its first state championship by coming back from a 10-stroke deficit in the final round and winning a playoff against Chapin at Smithfields Country Club in Columbia.

On the extra hole, the top four golfers from each team played the No. 1 hole and the Yellow Jackets won by a shot.

Barrett Owens of Easley shot 155 and finished runner-up for medalist honors by one shot to Lilly Reed Black of Chapin.

Hanna had three golfers in the top 10 as Serra Erlenkeuser shot 156 for third, Sierra Schultz 158 for fifth and Marissa Scarlette 163 for seventh.

Mountain View Prep won the Class AAA championship with three golfers finishing in the top seven at The Hackler Course in Aynor.

MVP freshman Poppy Dawson shot 153 to finish tied for second with junior Kate Gunnells of Belton-Honea Path; seventh-grader Arley Jennings shot 154 for fourth and junior Olivia Jones shot 161.
