Chinese shares Closed lower, with the Shanghai Composite Index ending down 2.7% at 3262.56. The Shenzhen Composite Index closed 2.6% lower at 1907.04 and the ChiNext Price Index dropped 3.8%.
Investors were taking a cautious approach after a private gauge of China’s manufacturing activity signaled that the sector continued to expand but at a slower pace in December.
Technology stocks led the declines, with Hygon Information Technology dropping 7.15%. Beijing Kingsoft Office Software declined 6.9% and iFlyTek ended 4.2% lower.
