The youngest son of boxing great Chris Eubank raped a 16-year-old girl on a beach after she became separated from friends, a court has heard.
Joseph Eubank, 27, is alleged to have assaulted the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in Brighton, East Sussex, in July 2022.
Giving evidence at Lewes Crown Court, the alleged victim said she had been aggressively grabbed and forced along the beach by Eubank before twice being raped close to Brighton Palace Pier.
The court heard that Mr Eubank walked off after the incident before being charged with two counts of rape five days later.
He does not deny having sex with the girl but says it was consensual.
On Monday, Eubank appeared in court for the first time as a jury trial began.
The court heard that the teenager was drinking vodka with friends on Brighton’s seafront on July 16 2022 before she became separated from them.
The girl told the court that she had lost her phone and was trying to find it to call her friends when she was approached by Eubank, who had been sitting with a male friend on a nearby bench, near the pier.
In a police interview video played to the court, she said: “All I remember is he asked how old I was and I told him I was 16 and he said he was 26. He may have asked for my Snapchat.
“He said: ‘Let’s go and look at the moon’. It was prominent and it was orange that night, I think.”
She described how she and Eubank then began walking down towards the seashore but she kept stumbling because she was so drunk and “couldn’t see straight”.
Tests conducted later estimated that she had been two times over the drink-drive limit at the time of the incident.
“He was quite friendly when we were on top of the steps, then obviously when we were walking toward the end of the beach he was more aggressive.” she said in the interview.
“There was no conversation and no conversation on the beach.”
The court heard that when they were between 10 and 20 metres from the sea, the pair sat down on the sand and Eubank kissed her.
He is then accused of raping her twice before walking off the beach without saying anything to her.
The court heard that the girl, now crying, made her way back to the seafront, found a mobile phone in a friend’s bag and “repeatedly messaged” friends who then came to her aid.
She told them she had been raped and was described as “hysterical, confused and clearly very upset”, the court heard.
That night she stayed at a friend’s house before she and her parents reported the incident to the police the next day.
Swabs taken showed semen was present in her mouth and a DNA match was sought.
Five days later, on July 21, Eubank was arrested at his home in Hove and later charged with two counts of rape, which he denies.
The court heard her mobile phone was found on the beach by a cleaner and when switched on she found a message from an unknown number which read: “Hey pup, are you ready for round two?”.
The defendant is the youngest son of former world boxing champion Chris Eubank, 58, and the brother of professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr, 35.
The trial continues.
