Class 1A, 2A state golf roundup: Seabreeze’s Riley Fletcher ties for 10th

In her final high school golf event, Riley Fletcher closed with four strong holes Saturday.

The Seabreeze senior parred 15, 16, 17 and 18 of her second round during the Class 2A state championship tournament at Mission Resort + Club in Howey-In-The-Hills. Overall, she tied three other golfers for 10th with a 10-over-par 152.

Fletcher was consistent during the two-day tournament. For her first 18-hole round on Friday, she fired a 5-over-par 76. She entered Day 2 just two strokes back of the lead.

During her second round, she again played to a 76.

It was Fletcher’s first state tournament appearance since her sophomore year when she placed 12th. She served as the only Volusia-Flagler representative Friday and Saturday.

She tallied three birdies and 22 pars across the 36 holes.

Jack Rossheim plays in Class 1A boys tournament

Jack Rossheim represented the Volusia-Flagler area as its lone participant in the Class 1A state tournament Tuesday and Wednesday.

In his first appearance at the FHSAA championships, the Father Lopez sophomore tied for 59th in a field of 95 golfers. He finished with a 14-over-par 158, leveling him with four others.

During his first 18-hole round at Mission Resort + Club, Rossheim posted an 82. On Day 2, he improved his score to a 4-over-par 76. He carded two birdies and two eagles (on par-4 No. 8 and par-5 No. 14).
