College football scores, games, updates: Louisville at Notre Dame, Colorado at UCF and more

Date:

The biggest game of the season (so far) is upon us.

No. 2 Georgia visits No. 4 Alabama in the first top-five matchup of the season on Saturday night. It’s the last of four ranked matchups during a loaded Week 5 slate.

The biggest result of the day, however, may have happened early on Saturday. Kentucky went into Oxford against No. 6 Ole Miss and stunned the Rebels, 20-17, in a back-and-forth affair that ended with a shanked field goal that would’ve tied it.

Here are the biggest games left. Follow along as we break down all the action below.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: NBC | Line: Penn State -18 | Total: 47.5

The Illini knocked off previously undefeated Nebraska in overtime in Week 4 and it’s just the third time since 1951 that Illinois has won its first four games. A big reason for that is the improved play of former Ole Miss QB Luke Altmyer. Can he keep that up against Penn State on the road? Opposing QBs are averaging just 144 yards per game against the Nittany Lions.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: ABC | Line: Georgia -1.5 | Total: 48.5

This matchup of perennial playoff teams features two Heisman contenders at quarterback. No QB is responsible for more TDs per game than Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Carson Beck spent much of the offseason as the favorite for the award. Beck’s 2024 season hasn’t lived up to the Heisman hype yet, but it won’t be a surprise in the slightest if Beck has a big game.

Time: 10 p.m. | TV: FS1 | Line: Boise State -7.5 | Total: 64.5

Washington State is on the precipice of the AP Top 25 after a 4-0 start that includes wins over Texas Tech and Washington and QB John Mateer is slinging it. But the Cougars defense is allowing almost five yards a carry — that’s an appetizing statistic for Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, who leads the country with an average of 10.5 yards a carry. There’s a reason he’s the non-QB with the best Heisman odds (+2000) at BetMGM.

Live92 updates

  • Touchdown Oklahoma!

Jovantae Barnes finishes it with a 2-yard TD run, which was set up by Michael Hawkins’ 60-yard pass to J.J. Hester. OU failed on the 2-point try, but it’s down to a one-score Auburn lead.

Auburn leads 21-16 with 8:32 to play.

  • Interception Colorado!

Who else but Travis Hunter?!? The two-way star makes an incredible leaping pick and it’s hard to see a way back for UCF despite the game only being midway through the third quarter.

  • Touchdown Notre Dame!

Riley Leonard’s short pass to Jeremiyah Love goes for a 32-yard score. It’s the first points of the 2nd half for the Irish, and that could come close to putting this one away.

31-17 Notre Dame lead. 9:16 to play.

  • Touchdown USC!

The second half has been all Trojans. The latest score is by QB Miller Moss, who got twisted up at the goal line but ended up with the score.

USC is up 31-21 with just over 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

  • Touchdown Colorado

The Buffs are starting to pull away on the road in Orlando. Micah Welch caps off a 4-play, 63-yard drive with a short walk into the end zone.

  • Louisville kicks FG to cut into the lead

Big sequence for the Cardinals after it appeared Notre Dame scored a touchdown on a scoop and score after Louisville QB Tyler Shough fumbled, but the play was overturned to an incomplete pass.

Brock Travelstead drilled a 56-yard field goal right after that.

Notre Dame’s lead is trimmed to 24-17 with 11:25 to play.

  • UCF opens 3rd quarter with missed FG

The Knights had a chance to cut into Colorado’s lead, but Colton Boomer missed the long field goal attempt and the Buffs will keep their 27-14 lead.

  • Auburn extends lead over Oklahoma

Payton Thorne, a week after being benched, throws his 3rd TD pass of the day to give the Tigers a 21-10 lead over No. 21 Oklahoma. Early 4th quarter.

  • End of 3Q: USC 24, Wisconsin 21

The Badgers will be punting to open the fourth quarter. It’s been all Trojans since the halftime break.

  • Notre Dame stopped on 4th down

This time, Louisville’s defense steps up and makes the big play on 4th and 3 at midfield.

Still not scoring in the 2nd half. ND leads 24-14 early in the 4th.

  • Touchdown USC!

The Trojans go right down the field for another score — this time it’s Miller Moss connecting with Duce Robinson for the touchdown — and take the lead on the Badgers.

  • Wisconsin stuffed on fourth down

The Badgers went for it on fourth-and-1 at the USC 33 and did not get it. The Trojans will take over on downs with the chance to take the lead.

  • Halftime: Colorado 27, UCF 14

The Buffaloes tacked on another field goal just before the break after an abbreviated possession by the Knights ended in a punt.

UCF will get the ball first to start the second half.

  • Touchdown USC!

The Trojans take advantage of the botched Badger punt return and score a few plays later on a short pass from Miller Moss to Ja’Kobi Lane for a six-yard touchdown.

  • Louisville stopped on 4th down again!

Neither offense has done much with the ball so far in the 2nd half, and Notre Dame just stopped Louisville on 4th and 2 near midfield.

Louisville is 0-for-3 on 4th down tries today. Score remains a 24-14 Notre Dam

  • Wisconsin muffs punt

The Badgers had held strong on defense, but a botched punt catch gives the Trojans the ball back in prime territory to cut into their lead.

  • After the sluggish start to the game, the Longhorns have a highlight. Arch Manning finds DeAndre Moore Jr. for a 49-yard home run to break up the muck.

  • Colorado stuffed on fourth down

The Buffs went for it in plus territory and were denied. The Knights take over at their own 35 with just under 6 minutes left in the first half.

  • Texas struggling early vs. Mississippi State

With under 2 minutes left in the first half, the Longhorns are only up 7-6 on the lowly Bulldogs. Quinn Ewers is out and Arch Manning isn’t dissecting MSU quite yet.

  • Touchdown UCF!

The Knights get one back with KJ Jefferson lowering the boom at the goal line.
