Oct. 15—LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The UTPB men’s golf team finished in ninth place out of 15 teams at the 2024 Herb Wimberly Memorial, a 54-hole event played at the par-71, 7242-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course.
The NM State Golf Course is a championship 18-hole course that was named the No. 18 college golf course in 2024 according to Golfer’s Choice.
UTPB (293-289-292; 874) shot plus-five during round two to move up two spots into seventh place before falling back to ninth place during the final round.
As a team, UTPB was third in par-3 scoring (3.13; +9) and was ninth in par-5 scoring (4.84; -7), total pars (161) and birdies (36).
In addition to New Mexico State (273-276-276; 825) defending its title for the fifth consecutive year, the field of teams featured six nationally-ranked NJCAA Division I teams (No. 1 Midland, No. 2 Hutchinson, No. 3 Odessa, No. 5 New Mexico JC, No. 7 Western Texas, No. 10 Weatherford) and two nationally-ranked NJCAA Division II teams (No. 3 Murray State, No. 4 South Mountain).
