Ohio State’s Bruce Thornton talks Kentucky game, more
Ohio State junior guard Bruce Thornton previews a game against No. 5 Kentucky and more in this Dec. 19, 2024 press conference.
The CBS Sports Classic has historically been good to Ohio State. In nine appearance in the annual event that also features Kentucky, North Carolina and UCLA, the Buckeyes boast a 5-4 record and have won four of their last five games.
It’s the second-best record among the four teams to participate, and it also features a 2-0 record against Saturday’s opponent. Ohio State will face No. 4 Kentucky, a team it defeated 74-67 in Brooklyn on Dec. 19, 2015 and 71-65 in Las Vegas on Dec. 21, 2019.
The Wildcats are 10-1 this season. The Buckeyes are unranked and lost their last neutral-site game to No. 2 Auburn by 38 points last Saturday.
“The age of their team has played a factor,” Ohio State coach Jake Diebler said of Kentucky’s season so far. “They have a great deal of experience where you can see that experience come out in moments of a game. Certainly not all transfers have the same experience, but they’ve got a great deal of experience they brought in. As some of our younger guys continue to get more and more experience, we’ll start to see more and more moments of games where we’re benefitting from that.”

Aaron Bradshaw, Ques Glover upgraded to questionable for Kentucky game
Ohio State’s injury report actually had some good news for the Buckeyes for a change. Sophomore center Aaron Bradshaw and sixth-year guard Ques Glover have both been upgraded from “out” to “questionable” as the Buckeyes get ready to play Kentucky.
Bradshaw has not played since a Nov. 19 home game against Campbell. Glover has not played since the first half of a Nov. 15 game at Texas A&M. The center has averaged 7.8 points and 4.8 rebounds and started the first four games while Glover has scored 11 points with two assists, two rebounds and four turnovers in 37:10.
