PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 6-foot tall unicorn cat statue has been found Sunday morning after being stolen over a day ago from Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
The “Keep Portland Weird” statue, created and designed by local artist Celeste Potgieter, is one of 30 displayed on the trail. It was taken sometime between late Friday and early Saturday, officials with the Portland Metro Chamber and Downtown Portland Clean & Safe said.
Both organizations showed appreciation for the cat’s return in a statement.

“Thanks to the community’s support, this beloved piece of art will be rejoining the trail in the coming days,” said Sydney Mead, Senior Director of Downtown Programs for Downtown Portland Clean & Safe. “We are excited to have the cat back on display and continue our efforts to raise funds for OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this elusive cat home.”
Thousands of people have visited Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail since it opened. Each of the 31 statues is set to be auctioned on October 30 in a fundraiser for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
The cat trail will remain open until October 13.
No further information, including how the statue was found, has been released at this time.
