Costco is expanding and has announced six new locations scheduled to open in early 2025.
The membership warehouse giant will surpass more than 900 locations worldwide with the new additions, which are scheduled to open in March 2025.
Two of the new stores will be in Texas and two will be in California, a state where Costco opened its 897th store in Pleasanton on Nov. 27, with people camping out to be among the first to enter. The opening in Pleasanton set a new Costco mark for highest-ever opening day sales for a U.S. warehouse at $2.9 million, CEO Ron Vachris said earlier this month during a call with investment analysts on Dec. 12.

The company is planning to open 29 new locations during its 2025 fiscal year, which runs until Aug. 31, 2025. Of those, 26 will be new buildings and three will relocations. Ten of the new locations will be outside the U.S., Vachris said earlier this month.
During the first quarter of the company’s 2025 fiscal year, a three-month period that ended Nov. 24, Costco opened seven new buildings – four outside the U.S. – with one of those being a relocation from a previous store site, he said.
After Costco raised membership prices in September for the first time since 2017, the price of an annual Costco membership rose from $60 to $65 for United States and Canada Gold Star memberships and executive memberships increased from $120 to $130, with the maximum annual 2% reward associated with the executive membership increasing from $1,000 to $1,250.
Revenue from membership fees rose 7.6% in the first quarter of the company’s 2025 fiscal year, which ended Nov. 24, accounting for $1.17 billion, up from $1.08 billion a year ago, the company said.
Costco has 77.4 million paid memberships, nearly half (47%) are executive memberships, the company said earlier this month.
The company also started rolling out scanners at warehouses this year, requiring members to scan their membership cards to enter some stores. And Costco is expected to quit selling books in most of its stores after the holiday shopping season.
