Cristante, Pellegrini no longer deemed ‘untouchable’

Bryan Cristante and Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini may be looking at reduced playing time in the coming weeks.

As reported by Il Tempo, coach Ivan Juric has set a rule based on which Roma’s midfield will only include players who are in top form.

That’s why Pellegrini and Cristante started the match on the bench on Thursday, replaced by Pisilli and Le Fée respectively.

In the past years, the two midfielders enjoyed the status of “untouchables” also due to the lack of variety in the department.

This year, however, at least in midfield, two quality players were introduced in the form of Le Fee and Kone and a third one was brought in from the Primavera (Pisilli) and promptly inserted into the rotations first by De Rossi and then by Juric.

In a period marked by negative performances and protests from fans, we usually rely on certainties, but at this moment Juric seems to prefer something else.

Experimenting with the players available allows the coach to find a solution for a Roma that is still not very concrete and, above all, provides an extra stimulus to the players in training, but also during the match, both from the first minute and as substitutes.
