With every passing day, there’s more and more smoke that Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams could end up in a Jets uniform.
After The MMQB’s Albert Breer reported on Wednesday night that other teams involved in trade talks “have become convinced the Raiders star is focused on engineering a trade to the Jets,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport followed that up with a report saying Adams “wants to play for the Jets” but is also open to landing with other teams.
Adams is reportedly unlikely to play on Sunday against the Denver Broncos because of a hamstring injury, but it’s fair to believe that ongoing trade talks are also playing a role in the Raiders wideout not suiting up against a division rival this weekend.
Adding a weapon like Adams, who has 890 career catches for 10,990 yards and 96 touchdowns, would obviously be a huge boon for a 2-2 Jets team that has come out of the gates inconsistent through the first quarter of the season.
While the buzz around an Adams trade has picked up exponentially this week, after Adams officially told the Raiders he prefers to be traded, the Jets and all other teams have some time to try to work out a deal, with the NFL trade deadline set for Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. EST.
