David Hornsby Declares ‘Slut Mode Engaged!’ As Rickety Cricket Preps for ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Season 17

Date:

Matthew “Rickety Cricket” Mara is back in action for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 — hide your horny dogs.

One of the cooler, more conceptual, The Picture of Dorian Gray-style aspects of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is how one of the show’s foundational writers and producers plays the physical manifestation of the Paddy’s Pub Gang’s spiritual decay in the form of the disgraced, disfigured, homeless ex-priest Rickety Cricket. When Father Mara found his way back into the Gang’s lives in the Season Two episode “The Gang Exploits a Miracle,” they were already assholes, of course, but they weren’t quite the monsters that they would gradually become in the later seasons. Then, Dee’s decision to seduce Rickety Cricket away from the Catholic Church sent his life down a path of homelessness, drug addiction, prostitution and bestiality that has left him a grotesque, corrupted figure whose current get-up of prosthetic scars and mutilations probably cost about as much as the entire production budget for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season One.

Earlier today, Hornsby posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the shooting of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 that showed off those prosthetics and special face tattoo, proclaiming, “SLUT mode engaged.”

You just know he’s going to make it sexy.

From that vantage point, it looks like the neck scar from the time when Frank blasted the street rat with a metal garbage can in “The Gang Wrestles for the Troops” seems to have healed to the point where it no longer looks like a dog’s vagina — then again, I’m not God, and I don’t know what goes on inside a dog’s mind. Though Hornsby’s post only showed him mid-makeup and we don’t know for sure how Cricket is going to look in Season 17, it does seem like the horrific scarring and mutilation has plateaued, and his new permanent body transformations are more revolving around his current scheme as the head of a male prostitution ring.

While we’re happy to see this headshot of arguably the best side character on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia as we patiently await Season 17 to wrap filming, the picture Hornsby posted is sadly incomplete — I don’t see any hips or nips anywhere. He knows the rules, if it’s not sexy, he doesn’t eat.
