El Paso motorcyclist dies after fall off Spaghetti Bowl into reservoir

Date:

A motorcyclist died at a hospital after falling off a Spaghetti Bowl bridge into a reservoir below the freeway interchange earlier this month, El Paso police officials said on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Tyler Christopher Jones, 28, of Central El Paso, was mortally injured in a 47-foot fall off Ramp K, which connects U.S. 54 south to Interstate 10 West, on the night of Dec. 3, police said.

About 9:40 p.m., police responded to a motorcycle crash on the Spaghetti Bowl ramp and located Jones down in the reservoir.

The Spaghetti Bowl is in the background as a portion of southbound U.S. 54 is closed after a motorcycle crash on Ramp K to westbound Interstate 10 in El Paso on the night of Dec. 3, 2024. The motorcyclist died after falling into the reservoir below the freeway.

An investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit determined that Jones was riding a 2022 Husqvarna Svartpilen motorcycle southbound on the Patriot Freeway (U.S. 54) when he took the turn to go to I-10 West, a police news release stated.

Jones lost control on the curve, hit the side concrete barrier and fell into the reservoir, police said.
