The Elmira Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday night on Washington Ave.
Police responded to a report of a confirmed shooting with a victim outside of Gush’s Thirsty Bear at approximately 10:52 p.m. on Monday.
Upon arrival no victim was located at the scene. It was later determined that the victim was transported to a local hospital by a personal vehicle prior to police arrival.
Officers conducted an investigation at the scene. Elmira Police was assisted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, the West Elmira Police Department, the Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance.
The male victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital. No further information about the victim is being released at this time.
