Elon Men’s Basketball Announces Full 2024-25 Schedule – Elon University Athletics

Date:

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s basketball team and head coach Billy Taylor announced its full 2024-25 schedule on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4. Highlights of the Phoenix’s 31-game slate include opening the season at intrastate foe and ACC opponent North Carolina while playing at another fellow ACC school, Notre Dame.

Elon will also participate in the Cathedral Classic Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The Phoenix will also host 14 games on its home floor at Schar Center.

“To open our season against the defending regular season ACC Champions the University of North Carolina, one of the most successful all-time college basketball programs is an honor for our program,” said Taylor. “Going home to South Bend to play my alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, and to my parents alma mater, Northern Illinois University, will be very special to me personally and for our program. In addition to that, playing three games in the historic Palestra Arena will be an amazing opportunity.

“Regionally, we are excited about playing a number of our strong rivals and we are excited to start some new home and home series,” Taylor added. “Our philosophy is to play a balanced non-conference schedule that will help prepare us for another season in the highly competitive CAA.”

The 2024-25 docket begins with a trip to Chapel Hill, N.C., for a matchup versus the Tar Heels on Nov. 4. This will be Elon’s fifth all-time meeting versus UNC with the last contest coming in 2021. The Phoenix opens its home schedule with a contest versus Bluefield (Va.) on Nov. 9.

A trip to Gardner-Webb on Nov. 16 begins a six-game visit away from Schar Center. Following its matchup against the Runnin’ Bulldogs, the Phoenix heads to Northern Illinois on Nov. 20 before facing Notre Dame on Nov. 22. Taylor played for the Fighting Irish from 1992-95, appearing in 112 career games.

A week later, Elon travels to Philadelphia for the Cathedral Classic Invitational from Nov. 29 until Dec. 1. The Phoenix will play against the field of Maine, Navy and host Penn at the in-season tournament.

A two-game homestand kicks off with a contest against Wofford on Dec. 7 followed by a game versus Lynchburg a week later on Dec. 14. After a contest on the road at ETSU on Dec. 18, the Phoenix closes out its nonconference slate with home games against UNCG (Dec. 21) and Marshall (Dec. 28).

CAA play commences for the Phoenix when it travels to Piedmont Triad rival North Carolina A&T on Jan. 2. Elon closes out its league-opening weekend with a home game versus Hampton on Jan. 4.

Three of the Phoenix’s next four games will take place on the road beginning with a trip to William & Mary on Jan. 9 before welcoming Campbell to Schar Center on Jan. 11. Elon then treks north for games at Drexel (Jan. 16) and at Delaware (Jan. 18) to close out its road swing.

Elon then plays four straight games at home, finishing out the month with contests versus Monmouth (Jan. 23), College of Charleston (Jan. 25) and Hofstra (Jan. 30). The homestand ends with a matchup against Northeastern on Feb. 1 to begin the second half of the Phoenix’s league slate.

After road trips at Campbell (Feb. 6) and at College of Charleston (Feb. 8), the Phoenix hosts North Carolina A&T at Schar Center on Feb. 13 in a rematch against its west I-40 rival. Elon then makes a trip east of I-40, traveling to UNCW on Feb. 15.

Elon closes out the home portion of its schedule with games against Towson (Feb. 20) and William & Mary (Feb. 22) before ending the regular season at Monmouth (Feb. 27) and at Stony Brook (March 1).

The 2025 Jersey Mike’s CAA Men’s Basketball Championships will take place from March 7-11 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.

CAA matchups will be available on FloHoops, CBS Sports Network, and local television partners throughout the league’s footprint. In addition, the semifinals and final of the 2025 Jersey Mike’s CAA Men’s Basketball Championship will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
