Employees badly beaten after 4 Los Angeles area taco stands robbed at gunpoint

Date:

Four taco stands in the South Bay region of Los Angeles were robbed at gunpoint by a group of men late Friday night and early Saturday morning, leaving some of the employees badly injured.

Preliminary information indicates that the first incident was reported around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Denker Avenue in Torrance and involved three to four suspects.

In this robbery, two of the taco stand employees stated they were badly beaten with the butt of a gun. Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows the employees with wounds to their heads and hands; one of them was transported to an area hospital while the other received treatment at the scene.

It is believed that close to $2,000 was stolen in this incident.

The second robbery occurred less than two miles away from and about 40 minutes after the first; this time the target was a taco truck located in the Harbor Gateway area near 190th Street and Normandie Avenue.

This incident also involved a group of armed men who held workers at gunpoint and demanded their money.

They were said to have taken around $1,000 before fleeing the scene in a black Scion.

While police were at the scene of the second robbery, a third incident was reported at a taco stand near Torrance Boulevard and Vermont Avenue around midnight.

Footage from the third scene shows an employee being treated at the scene for head injuries after he was reportedly pistol whipped by at least one of the suspects.

Approximately 30 minutes later, a fourth robbery was reported near 182nd Street and Western Avenue in Gardena.

An employee of the taco stand that was targeted said that he and others were assaulted by suspects, who used their guns to hit them.

An unknown amount of money was stolen from this location, the employee said. The suspects fled the scene in what is believed to be the same black Scion involved in prior robberies.

Initial reports indicate that all four robberies are connected and were perpetrated by the same three to four suspects who were armed with guns. They were only described as Hispanic men.

KTLA has reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for more details surrounding each of the robberies.

Anyone with information surrounding any of the incidents is asked to contact police.
