Before they head to the Champions Trophy 2025, which takes place in February and March 2025, England will visit India for a five-T20I and three-ODI series, beginning with T20Is on 22 January.
Both white-ball squads, led by regular skipper Jos Buttler, feature a mix of youth and experience. Both squads are largely the same, except Root, who has been only selected for the ODIs and Champions Trophy, and the 20-year-old spinner Rehan Ahmed, who only features in the T20I squad.
England will travel to India on 17 January, with the first T20I taking place in Kolkata on 22 January. The three ODIs will be played between 6 to 12 February.
