EDMONTON — Change can do a lot to a person.
In the case of former Edmonton Oilers winger Warren Foegele, change is making him a more productive hockey player.
The 28-year-old is off to a hot start with the Los Angeles Kings this season. In 16 games, he has nine points. Two of those points came in the Kings’ most recent 5-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Foegele is in a similar boat to his time with the Oilers, where he played a third-line role. However, Quinton Byfield, Alex Laferriere, and Foegele appear to be building solid chemistry.

Eight of his nine points have come with Laferriere, while five have come with Byfield on the ice.
While he hasn’t been getting much traction on the powerplay, a trend that has been present throughout his career, he’s been a big contributor to the Kings’ penalty.
With 1:52 a game spent on the penalty kill, he ranks seventh on the team in shorthanded time on ice, fourth among forwards. He only trails Philip Danault, Trevor Moore, and Byfield for shorthanded time on ice.
His nine points rank him sixth on the team. He ranks third on the team with six goals, behind Laferriere (9) and Kevin Fiala (7).
Foegele’s speed and forechecking abilities are his two greatest assets, and he is using those skills well with the Kings.
