Ex-Roma attacker Balbo weighs in on Roma’s rocky start, summer transfer business and more

Abel Balbo, former Giallorossi striker bought by the Viola, spoke about his feelings for today’s match.

In the interview with the Giallorossi podcast “Serie A Preview”, Balbo previewed Fiorentina-Roma and discussed Roma’s new additions to the squad.

“There is a bit of disappointment because things are going badly, the team is unable to win and find itself, seeing the stadium always full and not being able to win important matches like these always gives a bit of disappointment,” said Balbo when asked about the recent loss to Inter.

“It feels bad but Roma is unique, the stadium is always a place where you find great passion and love,” he added.

“Dovbyk? I like him, I think he is an excellent centre forward, he holds the ball very well, he is good in the air, he is a striker who needs the assistance of the team, he is not the type of striker who creates chances.”

“He hasn’t started badly but we will see him much better when the team finds some synchronicity and frequency in the opponent’s penalty area.”

“Soule? He is a great talent, he is young and we have to wait for him. The boy has character, he is never afraid of going one-on-one, sometimes excessively because he always wants to dribble, but he shows great personality. He is talented, he has everything, it is only a matter of time and he will explode.”

“Dybala? Paulo is a great champion, I really liked him in the last game against Inter because he played with the team, he made three or four runs with Bastoni to defend, run and sacrifice himself. Maybe too much, because we need him in other situations, but he shows attachment to the shirt and the situation, he understands that there is a difficult moment and wants to help.”

“Fiorentina? I expect a difficult match, playing in that stadium is very difficult even if Roma has almost always played good games there.”

“Fiorentina is in a better shape than Roma at the moment, they come from victories against Milan, Lazio and Lecce with six goals, we arrive a bit with water up to our necks and at this moment even a draw is not enough.”

“You have to start winning, it won’t be easy but Roma can do it. They are two very similar teams also in terms of values, the Giallorossi are a bit stronger but I expect a difficult and balanced match.”
