Dell was among 13 training camp roster cuts made by the Sharks today (Sept. 23). According to Curtis Pashelka, Dell is expected to attend the San Jose Barracuda’s training camp instead. In addition, Pashelka noted that Dell’s PTO is still in place even after being cut by the NHL squad.

With the Sharks having goaltenders Yaroslav Askarov, Mackenzie Blackwood, and Vitek Vanecek all under contract, it is not particularly surprising to see Dell get cut. However, he will now look to impress the Barracuda at their training camp in hopes of landing at least an AHL deal.

Dell is a player the Sharks know incredibly well, as he played five seasons over two stints with the club. In 111 games as a Shark, he had a 48-37-12 record, a .909 save percentage (SV%), and a 2.75 goals-against average (GAA).

Dell’s time with the Sabres was quite short, as he made just 12 appearances for them during the 2021-22 season. He recorded a 1-8-1 record, a .893 SV%, and a 4.03 GAA during them.
