Former San Angelo business owner accused of violating probation

A former business owner in San Angelo found himself back in jail after allegedly committing multiple violations of his probation.

On Tuesday, Jordan Velez, 38, was booked into the Tom Green County Jail for allegations that he violated the terms of his probation, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The Tom Green County District Attorney’s Office is seeking to revoke his probation.

“Back in 2022 and 2023, the sheriff’s office conducted multiple criminal investigations where it was determined Velez had defrauded over 15 victims out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in money and assets,” the Sheriff’s Office release stated.

Velez was previously the owner of several businesses in the San Angelo area including JC Asset Management and Viking Rental Services, according to the release.

On May 29, Velez plead guilty in the 51st District Court to three felonies:

  1. Theft of property between $150,00 and $300,000

  2. Theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000 enhanced

  3. Theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000

“For his guilty plea, Velez was sentenced to a total of 10 years of probation,” the release stated. “As of September 2024, Jordan had committed multiple violations of his probation, and the motion to revoke warrants were issued by the District Court.”

The sheriff’s office requests that any member of the public that feels they were defrauded by Velez to contact the criminal investigations division at 325-655-8111.

He remains in jail as of Oct. 17 with no bond.
