For the second straight year, a former San Jose Sharks forward has signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs after participating in training camp on a tryout basis.

Steven Lorentz, who won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers last season, has made the Maple Leafs roster after attending camp on a PTO.

Last season, former Sharks winger Noah Gregor accomplished the same feat as Lorentz. He attended camp on a PTO and earned himself a one-year NHL contract.

Lorentz joins a Maple Leafs roster with high expectations of winning the Stanley Cup. The team now has Craig Berube as its new head coach. Lorentz will give Berube size as a depth center and strong defensive play. He also brings experience from winning the Stanley Cup.
Lorentz played in 16 playoff games with the Panthers last season. He had two goals and one assist.
