Four-month road closure for water mains work

Date:

Work being carried out to replace water mains in Redhill has prompted the closure of a road for up to four months.

SES Water said more than 800m of pipes would be replaced along Gatton Park Road in Redhill.

The road will close on Monday and is expected to reopen in late May, the company said.

A spokesperson said: “We have condensed the programme as much as possible and are confident of completing the work within the timeline provided.”

They added that multiple teams would be working on site simultaneously to “minimise the time taken to complete the scheme”.

A diversion for drivers will be in place via the A23 and A25 around Redhill, while the company said access would be maintained for residents from the West Lodge end.

“A hard closure will be in place at the Colesmead end with no vehicle access possible,” SES Water said.

“Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout alongside access to cyclists who will need to dismount.”
